How much do you know their past?

Posted by Passionate About Baking in

Family. How much do you know of their past? Your parents. Do you know how they met, settle down, their jobs, their family? I do. Many has been said and shared to us by our parents. We were even told of what we did when we were younger.

I managed to find out more about my parents in law last night. Somehow, we chit-chatted after dinner, and being curious, I probed into their past. I love my parents in laws. They are always there when we needed them-pick up our children, cook meals for us, mend our broken toys, mend our broken applicances etc etc. It's just endless how they are so involved in our life. The reason why I asked was because my mother is those introvert, very quiet with few spoken words. One of those things that can rattle her off are the market prices of the grocery. Otherwise, she can be rather quiet.

My parents in law met through a common friend introduction. He worked for his landlord, which is also his boss. She worked in an attap house where she toast cuttlefish for Titbit shop. He worked in a hawker centre. He came from Malaysia, and all alone. The spouse of the landlord thought it might be good idea to match-make him to her, since he is single and available. And so, the rest they say, are history. If not for that match-make session, I probably won't have met my hubby today!

They (my parents in law) were planning to get married. They had bought everything that was required for a proper, but simple wedding. However, her (younger) sister got married on the date they had chosen instead! It's so ironical! It turned out that her sister was already pregnant! Left with no other option, she let her sister have that date instead. They chose another date some few months later and tied the knot. The following year, their first child, a girl, was born. She is none other than my sister in law. :)

Scenes from my place

Life. These were some scenes taken from my place lately. I like my camera with the 15x zoom which allows me to zoom up close to my subject.

Early morning last Friday, 8 May, the moon was very bright, which shone into my bedroom. I woke up and quickly took some pictures of the clear moon. It was just one of those nights without rains and clouds.

Saturday evening, there were two very bright "fires" from far away. Up close, the fires were rather clear.

Family. Thank you to my dear sister for hosting a Mother's Day dinner at her place. Not only that, she has also given my mum and myself a very beautiful bouquet of Sunflower! That was really sweet of her!

A Ball of Good Time

Family. Last Friday, my twins' childcare was closed. My hubby and I took leave to bring them to Pasir Ris Park to relax. There were many groups of children from different childcare centres too! The children had a ball of good time!

Rainbow after Rain

Posted by Passionate About Baking in

Life. There is always obstacle in our life. The ups and downs, the rain & storm. No matter how difficult or hard we faced, we must always stay optimistic as we will see the rainbow after the rain. Better still, inside of just rainhow, maybe we'll find a pot of gold. This is the double rainbow captured last Saturday in the West. See how pretty it is. So when you're down & out, don't despair. Look for the rainbow...otherwise, look at my rainbow!

Gifts from Jordan

Family. My parents just returned from Jordan yesterday. These were some souvenir and gifts they had bought for us.

The dates were supposed to be their country's food products. I supposed around that area, they are famous for such dates.

I have requested dad to buy some sea salt from Dead Sea, but didn't expect this to be so expensive. If I had knew, then I wouldn't have asked him to buy. I think getting it in Singapore is still cheaper. They also bought sea salt bath soap. It's said to improve skin condition. We shall see...

Emotional Intelligence

Posted by Passionate About Baking in

Life. For the past two days, starting from Monday, I had attended a course called "Leading confidently with Emotional Intelligence". What is emotion? According to Wikipedia-An emotion is a mental and physiological state associated with a wide variety of feelings, thoughts, and behavior. However, according to the trainer, Emotion is energy on the move, which I think is true. Many a times, we let emotions rule our brain, therefore, affecting how we treat others. When emotions rule, we cannot think, and sometimes, it will result in unrecoverable consequences.

We also very much like to judge and stereotype people. When we hear one side of a story, we start to form our own perceptions. Our brains are then clouded with prejudice. We should always keep an open mind. In this course, we also did a DISC Personality Profile Test. This personality profile test tells us what kind of person we are, and how we deal with people of different profiles. It can be really interesting to know the profiles of your family members, your close colleagues and your boss, so that you know how to react or respond to them.

To read more about the DISC personality profile, here is the online profile information: http://www.discinsights.com/cyber/scripts/disc.asp.

New Update

Posted by Passionate About Baking in

Family. It's really been a long long time since I last updated on this blog, which is more for my family. I've been so busy with keeping updated with my bakings.
I should start writing about my children now so that I can remember what they did when they were at this age.

I'm really beginning to enjoy my children now. They are really adorable and really can amazed me! Today, my Anders came to spoke to me at my parents-in-law (PIL) house. He said his granny would say "kei kei si" if he eat and talk at the same time. Then he asked me if it meant "choked and die". I told him yet. When you eat and speak, the food might get choked in the throat. Then he asked me if "si" means "pass away". I told him yes. Then he said why "die" and "pass away" means "si"? I told him yes. He was able to accept what I explained.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~

This was what I took of them in the evening after we came back from my PIL house. My girl was busy dolling herself up, while my younger boy was copying his spelling list non-stop. The reason for him to do so was because his dad told him that if he did not study his spelling test, he cannot watch "Ben 10" the following day. So he had no choice but to be (pretentiously) diligent...

Lemon Twist...

Posted by Passionate About Baking

My spouse & I took leave yesterday for couple bonding! :p We went for porridge buffet lunch before proceeding to Summer Spa for our couple Lemon Twist. It consists of 60mins full body massage, 30mins tummy candle, 15mins eye parrafin mask, 45mins express facial & 15mins body scrub. We were placed in separate rooms. I had the 45mins express facial first, followed by the 30mins tummy candle. The tummy candle was quite interesting, after the candle, the tummy felt hot. It was supposed to removed toxin from the tummy through the naval. You believe? After my facial, I had the rose scrub... smelt very nice & pleasant. Followed by a shower and the full body massage. I can hear "cracks" as she massaged my body... I understand that was due to the release of nitrogen from the bones. After the whole spa, we were treated to some camomile tea & biscuits, while the lady tried to persuade us to sign up some packages.

My spouse was not interested to commit any money. So in the end we paid about $230 for our two & half hours of Lemon Twist spa experience. Both of us preferred our previous experience @ The Asapara @ The Goodwood Park Hotel last year. That was more expensive, but the scrub & massage was more thorough. Anyway, it was good to go around and try these spas once a while. Makes life more interesting & enjoyable! ;)
